Experience is the best innovator. With over 80 years in the business, Ekamant is one of the oldest manufacturers of coated abrasives in the world. It's also one of the most innovative.
Ekamant is still located in Markaryd, deep in the heart of a Swedish forest, where our company was founded in 1928. The coated abrasive knowledge we have accumulated over the years has been passed down from generation to generation. We are constantly discussing new ideas for improving our technology. At work, we are trying, testing, failing - and eventually succeeding. But the goal is always the same: how to find ways to make our products even better and more effective in supporting our customers' development.
Our combination of tradition and high-technology is unique and it has inspired us to think outside the box and use abrasives in an innovative way - for the benefit of both present and future generations.
1953 Ekamant adopts the electrostatic coating method in manufacturing.
1956 Ekamant develops its first resin-bonded abrasive paper.
1972 Ekamant receives its first patent - for antistatic abrasives.
1975 Ekamant introduces Antistatex - the first antistatic abrasive paper in the world.
1984 Ekamant introduces phenolic resin-bonded coated abrasives to satisfy customers' need for durable products.
1987 Ekamant introduces phenolic resin-bonded coated abrasives aimed at the metal working industry.
1987 Ekamant establishes its subsidiary Ekamant Deutschland GmbH.
1998 Ekamant acquires a chain of distributors in Indonesia, establishing the subsidiary Pt Ekamant Indonesia.
1998 Ekamant establishes its subsidiary Ekamant Danmark ApS.
1999 Ekamant splits its business in Sweden into two subsidiaries Ekamant Production AB and Ekamant Skandinavien AB.
1999 Ekamant establishes its subsidiary Ekamant Polska sp z o.o.
2003 Ekamant establishes its subsidiary Ekamant Eesti OÜ, in Estonia.
2005 Ekamant establishes its subsidiary Ekamant Abrasives Shenzhen Co. Ltd., in China
2008 Ekamant introduces a new range for Metal, Automotive and Composites industries
2009 Ekamant establishes its subsidiary Ekamant South Africa (Pty) Ltd.
